WINDIGO

History:

The vessel was commissioned by Hal Haskell of Wilmington in the US state of Delaware. She was subsequently renamed Venturer. Among the racing successes of this Ocean Racer are a line record at a Bermuda Race and in 1963, under the name Audacious, and a second place at the Transpac. Back along the east coast of the United States she sailed as far as Alaska and participated in the Antigua Sailing Week where she recorded the enviable real time victory record for classic yachts in 1990 – 1992 – 1993 and the first overall in 1989 WINDIGO reached Mediterranean in the early 2000s. After the 2004 restoration, at the 2006 Argentario Sailing Week she finished third in the category. Capraia 2005 – 2006 first in class and overall, Mahon – Porto Rotondo 2006 third overall; at the 2006 CIM Championship first of the major classes.

In the early 2000s (2003/2004) she got a complete restoration in Chiavari by Classic Yachts Management of Milan and the Sangermani Shipyard.

On this occasion the interiors were dismantled, the plating and structures checked, the teak deck rebuilt, the engine replaced, new masts, new rigging and new navigation equipments

In 2015 a new phase of restoration at the Argentario shipyard, where all the planking of the hull are replaced with check and replacement of frames and floors ( if needed ). Screwing in silicon bronze.

Accomodation:

Interiors of great value and immaculate condition: 3 double cabins with 2 bathrooms.

Shipowner’s cabin with private bathroom. Two double cabins with  bunk beds and bathrooms.

Generous sized dinette with sofas and tilting table for 8 people.

Galley equipped with gas stove, large fridge, freezer and stainless steel sink. The galley is forward together with the crew cabin, in order to allow guests greater privacy while on board.

The large doghouse equipped with windows provides a comfortable shelter from bad weather while still allowing the outside view, and is very useful for the crew’s rest shifts during long navigations and crossings. (A total of 14 berths useful for long cruise regattas)

Sails:

The deck is spacious and very comfortable and the maneuvers for the sails are facilitated by 2 wonderful coffee grinders.

NOTE:

The boat is in perfect condition and well maintained. Hull service and propeller check carried out yearly. Engine and generator service every season. Complete overhaul of the watermaker with replacement of the membrane unit in March 2023. Extraordinary engine service with overhaul of the cooling system in 2023.
